Resources - Professional Organizations

The National Women's Studies Association (NWSA) was formed in 1977 as a professional organization designed to further the social, political, and professional development of women's studies throughout the country and the world, at every educational level and in every educational setting. To this end, the organization is committed to being a forum conducive to dialogue and collective action among women dedicated to feminist education and change.

NWSA activities include an annual conference, NWSA Journal, NWSAction newsletter, a national network of Women's Centers, the Women's Studies Archival Project, graduate scholarships in women's studies, a $1,000 manuscript award, the Gloria Anzaldúa Book Prize, Women's Studies Graduate Directory, and conference scholarships. Student Membership is $25.00 per year. The NWSA's 29th annual conference will be held in June 2008.

For more information, contact NWSA at http://www.nwsa.org. Scholarship information (from the NWSA website) is available at http://www.mscd.edu/~women.
