Nidya Ramirez

Class of 2008

Nidya RamirezIn 2008 I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a Bachelor's degree  in Feminist Studies with an emphasis in Law, Politics, and Social Change and a minor in History.
After UCSC, I returned to my community of San Diego and began working as a community organizer for immigrant, women, and worker's rights. Currently, I am working towards my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at San Diego State University and will be graduating in Spring 2013. In August 2012 I will began my one year traineeship doing therapy with families, couples, and individuals at Center for Community Solutions. CCS is an organization whose mission is "to end relationship and sexual violence by being a catalyst for caring communities and social justice." I am also working as the Household Workers Organizer at the San Diego Day Laborers and Household Workers Association. I organize immigrant women of color who are house cleaners, nannies, and caregivers in San Diego private homes to fight for their rights as workers, women, and immigrants.
